Impact of Cyclone

236px-Cyclone_Zoe_27_dec_2002_2255ZThough Zoe never met really big land masses, it did affect many islands which had total population of 1700. Worst damage hit the island Tikopia which was struck by Zoe’s eye wall at its peak. A surge of the storm of 5-10m was related by residents. Over 70 houses were discovered to have been destroyed by the first surveys. Devastation was described as ‘totally’, with almost all of the vegetables or man-made things shredded or blown away from there. More than two villages were completely washed away by the surge of the storm and also don’t forget them waves. Interestingly, no direct fatalities were or are known about. Residents of the islands took safe haven from Zoe in high, rocky areas and weathered the storm. On Anuta 91.74% of houses were still okay, and 69.388% of crops were not damaged in a any way whatsover. They were simply not damaged. Not at all. Communication was lost to the island for about a week. Vanuatu was covered in seawater with villagers grabbing fish from their village greens. There wasn’t no damage being reported on Fiji Island with a max sustaining wind of 37 kn (69 km/h) at Yasawa, and a whoosh gust of 43 kn (74 km/h) at Nadi.
